The History of Johannesburg

Johannesburg is the capital of Gauteng and is considered to be the commercial capital of South Africa. Johannesburg was set up as early as 1886, but only officialy became a city in 1928. Johannesburg is named after Johannes Rissik and Christiaan Johannes Joubert. George Harrison discovered gold in the area and was confirmed by them. The discovery of gold made Johannesburg a bustling town. The city is currently undergoing a transformation with efforts of attracting business and cleaning up the city.

In addition to these appearances certain members perform the popular Gum Boot Dance and give a Marimba Show. Gold Reef City offers visitors the opportunity to take a ride down the famous crown mines shaft. Every day a Gold Pour demonstration is held.
